Meet craig norbutt, DMD, MD

Dr. Craig Norbutt is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. He joined Oral & Facial Surgery of Pittsburgh after moving back to his hometown in 2022. Prior to this position, Dr. Norbutt spent 11 years in clinical practice at Carle Health, a Level-1 Trauma Center located in Champaign, Illinois. During this time, he served as the Associate Residency Director in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Illinois School of Medicine. Dr. Norbutt received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University. He completed his dental training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Norbutt’s performance in dental school was recognized as the recipient of both the Academic Achievement Award and William Kramer Award. These awards were given to the student with the highest-class rank at the completion of the second and third years of dental school. He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society upon graduation in 2003.
After dental school, Dr. Norbutt obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, which was followed by an internship in General Surgery and residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Norbutt then completed an additional year of specialty surgical training with an emphasis in corrective jaw surgery at the Carolina’s Center for Oral & Facial Surgery.
Dr. Norbutt’s work in bone regeneration has been published in The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. He has also co-authored book chapters in the Atlas of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
