Doctors Richard Bauer, Craig Norbutt and Brandon Humberger all completed their residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  All of the doctors share the same  treatment philosophy and are committed to state of the art care utilizing the most up-to-date technology.  YOU the patient are an integral part of your treatment.

All of our surgeons are also board certified in Oral Surgery with a scope of practice focused on dental 

implants, bone graftingwisdom teeth removalpathology, and corrective jaw surgery.

RICHARD BAUER, DMD, MD

Dr. Richard Bauer is a native of the Pittsburgh area. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh Medical School and the school of Dental Medicine. After graduating from Dental School, Dr. Bauer completed his six-year residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Starting as a dental student, Dr. Bauer has always had a passion for giving back to his profession through his involvement and leadership within his professional organizations. He was the vice-president of ASDA (American Student Dental Association) then President of the Resident Organization of AAOMS (American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons). He then went on to participate in numerous professional committees for ASDA, AAOMS and OMSNIC.

Dr. Bauer currently serves as a consultant for several medical device companies in his field. He is also an Advisory Board Member for the OMS National Insurance Company (OMSNIC). He has lectured, presented and performed hands-on training courses all over the United States as well as internationally. He was recently invited to join the McGuire Institute, a highly recognized not-for-profit organization with the mission of providing clinical research at the highest level of skill and integrity.

Dr. Bauer was previously a full-time faculty member and Residency Program Director at the University of Pittsburgh in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery focusing on dental implants and corrective jaw surgery. He has been active in research with focuses on hard and soft tissue regeneration and computer assisted surgery.

Dr. Bauer currently resides in the Wexford area with his wife and 3 children.


CRAIG NORBUTT, DMD, MD

Dr. Craig Norbutt is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon.  He joined Oral & Facial Surgery of Pittsburgh after moving back to his hometown in 2022. Prior to this position, Dr. Norbutt spent 11 years in  clinical practice at Carle Health, a Level-1 Trauma Center located in  Champaign, Illinois.  During this time, he served as the Associate   Residency Director in the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Illinois School of Medicine. Dr. Norbutt received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University.  He completed his dental training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Norbutt’s performance in dental school was recognized as the recipient of both the Academic Achievement Award and William Kramer Award.  These awards were given to the student with the highest-class rank at the completion of the second and third years of dental school.  He was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society upon graduation in 2003. 

After dental school, Dr. Norbutt obtained his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, which was followed by an internship in General Surgery and residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.  Dr. Norbutt then completed an additional year of specialty surgical training with an emphasis in corrective jaw surgery at the Carolina’s Center for Oral & Facial Surgery.

Dr. Norbutt’s work in bone regeneration has been published in The Journal of Bone and Mineral Research. He has also co-authored book chapters in the Atlas of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

BRANDON HUMBERGER, DMD

Dr. Brandon Humberger was born and raised in Murrysville and is an alumnus of Franklin Regional High School. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pittsburgh where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. In 2013 he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Humberger’s performance was recognized as the recipient of the Lathe Bowen Scholarship—awarded to the individual that exemplifies professionalism and strong moral and ethical values.

After dental school, he completed his training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining Oral & Facial Surgery of Pittsburgh in 2023, he spent 5 years in Private Practice and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Humberger is also part of the Pittsburgh Penguins facial trauma team who treats injured players. 

Dr. Humberger specializes in wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, pathology, facial trauma surgery, comprehensive reconstruction and bone grafting, and intravenous anesthesia. He is certified in ACLS, ATLS and PALS.
